Beekeeping for sustainable homesteaders

Beekeeping Success - The Complete Guide to Becoming a Master BeekeeperWelcome to beekeeping for sustaianble homesteaders.  I grew up some 40 years ago on a small farm in south central Michigan and we always had between 4 to 6 hives of honey bees.   My Grandfather and my great grandfather were both small farmers and raised most of their own food on the farm I grew up on and still tend.   The bees and a number of maple trees provided just about all our sugar needs and we always had honey to sell or trade.
Recently after coming back to the farm following my stint in the armed forces and work outside, I have been restoring the farm as a sustainable homestead and small farm.   My partner Kim  and I started a beehive this spring as a step in the process in restoring the farm to production.
Kim and I will be recording the lessons we learn and stories about our beekeeping venture here and sharing our experiences.
Enjoy.

Steve
